Avon CT - Antique & Vintage Treasures with Stories Along the Way From Mom Who Recently Passed Away at 102!

Explore the antique and vintage treasures of an amazing couple who loved treasure hunting and enjoyed documenting their finds with special notes and newspaper articles. They owned The Wig Shop (not an actual wig shop but a popular hair salon) located in Farmington CT from the 1950's to the 1990's. Mom wrote notes on many of the pieces for her kids to explore one day. She began writing these notes in the 1950s. She recently passed away at almost 102 years old and her amazing daughter opened up her mom and dad's home to us so that we could showcase their wonderful treasures. What an emotional journey it has been for her and her brothers, checking out mom’s special notes. We included notes in the photos if an item had one. Take your time exploring and getting to know this wonderful family. Mom grew up in The Berkshires so there’s many references to her childhood home. We are excited to present this online auction filled with antique and vintage treasures from the Elpstone manor property in New Hartford CT. This beautiful home was built by America’s first “Prima Donna” Clara Kellog. She performed in opera houses around the world and her success was a matter of national pride in the United States, showing that American woman could rise up to the talent of other parts of the world. She would summer in this home and lived in Italy for the remainder of the year. She named this property Elpstone manor because of the large boulder on the property that looks like an elephant. There’s a gorgeous Japanese maple out front that was gifted to her by the Japanese emperor. A Moving Sale at Priam Vineyards: Amazing Treasures from the Home of Gloria Priam!

Priam Vineyards was first established in 1998, in 2002 became a licensed farm winery, opening the winery for retail sales in April of 2003, and in September 2010, they became the first winery in New England to be completely solar powered. The vineyard was named in honor of Gloria’s grandfather, Andrew Priam, whose vineyard and land was taken from him during the Russian Revolution in Hungary in the early 1900′s.
